Features and Permissions
1. What does Keephotos do?
Keephotos is a local-first photo management app for organizing your library, cleaning up videos, Live Photos, screenshots, large files, blurry photos, and burst/similar photos, while also supporting albums, tags, favorites, and widget-related features.
2. Why does the app request Photo Library access on first launch?
The app needs access to your photo library to display media, generate statistics, identify items for cleanup, and perform organization actions.
3. Why does the app request permission to add to the Photo Library?
When you create albums, organize photos, or save organization results, the app needs to write those changes back to the system photo library.
4. Why does the app request Camera access?
Camera access is used for the Capture & Organize feature, which can automatically organize newly captured photos based on your selected rules.
5. Why does the app request Notification access?
Notification access is used to remind you to review results after a Capture & Organize session ends. Denying notifications does not affect core organization features.
6. What happens if I only grant access to selected photos?
The app can only access the photos you authorize, so counts, cleanup suggestions, and organization results may be incomplete.
7. How can I change Photo Library permission later?
Go to iOS or iPadOS Settings, find Keephotos, open the Photos permission section, and switch it to All Photos or update the selected items.
Organization and Library
8. What is included in the Clean section?
The Clean section currently includes videos, Live Photos, screenshots, large files, blurry photos, burst/similar photos, and helper tools such as Empty Albums, Duplicate-Named Albums, and Trash.
9. If I delete a photo in the app, is it immediately removed from Apple Photos permanently?
No. The photo first moves to the app’s internal Trash. It is only permanently removed from Apple Photos after you delete it again from Trash.
10. Can I restore a photo after deleting it?
Yes. As long as the photo is still in the app’s Trash, it can be restored.
11. What is the difference between Keep and Delete?
Keep means the photo stays in your library. Delete means it is moved into the app’s internal Trash for later confirmation.
12. Why are some photos not shown in the Blurry or Similar list?
These lists depend on local analysis results and your current authorization scope. If a photo is not authorized, not yet analyzed, or does not match the current rules, it may not appear.
13. What can I do in the Library tab?
You can browse albums, tags, uncategorized photos, and favorites. You can also create tags, create system albums, and view the content inside each collection.
14. What is the difference between a tag and a system album?
Tags are managed inside the app. System albums are synced with Apple Photos. A photo can have multiple tags and can belong to multiple albums.
15. If I create an album in the app, will it appear in Apple Photos?
Yes. System albums created in the app are synced to the system photo library.
Full-Screen Viewer
16. What gestures are supported in the full-screen viewer?
The viewer supports horizontal swiping between media, pinch-to-zoom, double-tap to zoom in or reset, and one-finger panning when zoomed in.
17. Do videos and Live Photos also support zooming?
Yes. Photos, videos, and Live Photos can all be zoomed in the full-screen viewer.
18. Why is the video progress bar sometimes hidden?
The progress bar is hidden while the video is zoomed in. It reappears after the media returns to its original scale.
Capture & Organize
19. What is Capture & Organize?
It is a timed auto-organization feature. You can choose target albums, tags, and a duration. During that period, newly captured photos are organized automatically.
20. Do I need to select both albums and tags?
No. You only need at least one target. You can select albums only, tags only, or both.
21. Can I view the photos organized during a Capture & Organize session?
Yes. The status page shows the albums or tags used in the session, the assigned counts, and lets you open the organized photos directly.
22. Why do newly captured photos sometimes not appear immediately in the result list?
This is usually caused by a short delay in system photo library syncing, authorization scope, or the capture time window. Returning to the app normally triggers a refresh.
Membership and Purchases
23. What benefits are included in PRO?
The current paywall includes these PRO benefits: unlimited photo organization, unlimited Capture & Organize usage, unlimited widget features, and unlimited collage tools.
24. What should I do if my purchase does not unlock PRO?
Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for purchase, then open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases. If needed, relaunch the app and try again.
25. How do I cancel a subscription?
Subscription cancellation must be managed through your Apple ID subscription settings in iOS or iPadOS, usually under Settings - Apple Account - Subscriptions.
26. What is the difference between Lifetime and Monthly or Annual plans?
Lifetime is a one-time purchase. Monthly and Annual are auto-renewable subscriptions billed according to their subscription cycle.
Display and Troubleshooting
27. What is the purpose of the Display tab and widgets?
Display-related features let you choose photos from albums, tags, or random sources and use them in Home Screen widgets.
28. What should I do if counts look wrong, lists are empty, or the app behaves unexpectedly?
First check whether Photo Library permission is set to All Photos. Then return to the app and wait for refresh. If the issue remains, restart the app and clear cache if needed.
